Premium trails with special highlights
The designation of the premium trails in the Ötztal - also known as "water runners in the Ötztal" applies to hiking trails that come into particularly close contact with water. Discover the strong element of water and its many facets on the premium trails of the "Ötztaler Wasserläufer". These circular hiking trails take you from gently flowing streams and tranquil lakes to thundering waterfalls and the eternal ice of the glaciers.
The hiking trails Wasserläufer can be classified as easy to moderately difficult and invite hiking enthusiasts of the Ötztal to come into direct contact with water and to rediscover its diversity.
Due to the special highlights of the trails, two of a total of six premium trails in the Ötztal were awarded a special seal at the ITB in Berlin as the first hiking trails in Austria! These include the Wasserläufer around Lake Piburg in Oetz and the Wasserläufer Stuibenfall in Umhausen.
Other water-walking trails in the Ötztal include hikes to the Rotmoosferner glacier in Obergurgl, the 4-lake trail above Längenfeld, to the Peerlersee lake near Sölden and to the Rofenhöfe farms near Vent.
